This page will be refreshed as more information is available . Scroll to the bottom for newer information, right above the picture.
·
Local news outlets have begun reporting that the shooter’s name may be Jiverly Voong, a 41-year old male.
·
It is unclear at this time if he was taken alive from the scene of the Binghamton, NY massacre that left at least 13 dead, and dozens wounded.
·
Voong, 41, also goes by Linh Phat Voong, and lived in nearby Johnson City, N.Y.
·
He allegedly walked into the center wearing a green hunting jacket and dark-rimmed glasses with a hunting knife tucked into the waistband of his pants.
·
Voong had backed his car up to the back door of the building to block any escape before he went around to the front door and started to execute people.
·
** Voong was found dead in the building with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head **
·
It has been reported that Voong may have been despondent over a recent layoff from his job at a nearby IBM plant.
·
U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey said that his office had been told by at least four sources that the gunman had recently been laid off from IBM Corp. in Endicott. IBM has not confirmed yet that Voong had worked for the company.
·
The New York Times has identified the shooter as Jiverly Wong, who used the alias Jiverly Voong, according to law-enforcement officials.
·
Wong had a New York State pistol license for two guns, a 45-caliber Beretta and a 9-mm Beretta. Authorities have matched the serial numbers of two guns found with the gunman’s body to the serial numbers on his licenses.
